The Guidelines for The Baby Bowl Experiment:

1. The meal has to fit in the bowl, up to the rim. I can, however, go beyond the rim with fruits and vegetables.
2. I can eat whatever I want.
3. I can have more than one bowl of food but I have to wait 20 minutes between each bowl.
4. I have to chew the food as close to a liquid state as possible.
5. Only water.

(For additional information about these guidelines, see Days 2 and 27.)

Day 12 - March 5 - Nostradamus Eating

One of my BFFs, Cyndi, makes AWESOME homemade pizza. You couple this with the fact that I LOVE pizza and you've got Nostradamus eating: I've already predicted how many pieces I'm GOING to eat.

I've been avoiding pizza for the time of this experiment for one main reason: How the heck am I going to get it into a baby bowl??!? Yes, you have to cut it into bite-sized pieces. AND even just ONE large slice does not fit into the bowl (God was definitely on the ball with the BBE, right?!?!). Now, my M.O....and I'm humbled to say this... is dropping about half a pizza down my face in no time flat (of course this would vary depending on how many people were sharing but my desire and ability was out of control). Because of how I view pizza (it's SO delicious AND I want to enjoy the hot meltiness of it) I would eat as much as I could and as fast as I could with disastrous results. I'd be so jacked up on pizza that I'd feel totally gross after my binge.

So. There I was at Cyndi's with homemade fresh mushroom, onion and pepperoni pizza for lunch WITH my baby bowl...and what's a girl to do? I worked my guidelines:
1. I cut up the large slice to fit my bowl from the bottom up. My priority was the toppings, not the crust! The crust and one chunk wouldn't fit into my bowl. (If I can figure out how to get the pictures from my phone to the computer I'll post what this craziness looked like but you can imagine.)
2. I took about 3 bites out of each piece, making it last longer, and chewed to as close to a liquid state as possible.
3. I ate that pizza with JOY because I COULD. (I was also coming off my fast so it was extra super awesome!)
4. I waited 20 minutes before considering another slice.
5. I drank water.

Now, I WILL admit that I started to finish what was leftover of the first slice even though it didn't fit in my bowl. I'm only so strong, people. Just after a bite, though, Marianne decided it was HER piece and I never got to fully experience my cheat. My OTHER admission is that after 20 minutes I really was satisfied after 1 piece (what?!?!?) but ate one more for the deliciousosity of it all AND I'd already projected that surely, I wouldn't be satiated after just one slice. (This is the pitfall of Nostradamus eating! I HAVE to go into each bowl assuming it'll be enough...and it usually is!) I shared this second slice with Marianne too. If I get another opportunity I'd like to see if I really can stop at one slice. Wouldn't THAT be a testimony to the BBE?!?!

Before I close I have to share a triumph: On Thursday night I needed to make a late-night run to Winn Dixie for some medicine. As I drove I was already plotting a purchase of peanut m&m's. I thought, I'll just edit my post when I get home (with the little cartoon devil on my shoulder whispering I could also just leave it out and the angel saying, "If you lie, even from omission, the BBE won't mean anything!" I love this little angel but her nicname is "Pesky". Tanya, another of my BFFs, and I like to call them our shoulder people.) Once I got to the store, though, I was faced with actually having to purchase the candy, going home and eating them just before going to bed, wiping out my hours of NOT eating AND posting what I'd done. It just wasn't worth it. Can I get a WOOT WOOT?!?!

Food that fits in a bowl, Day 11:
(NOTE: In case it's not clear, each entry denotes at least 20 minutes between.)
-Lenten fast: breakfast
-Almost a full slice of homemade fresh mushroom, onion and pepperoni pizza and JP+
NOTE: I said in an earlier post that because Juice Plus+ is a whole food I would treat it as a meal and wait 20 minutes but I've since amended this. JP+ actually fits in my bowl so I'm eating these fruit and veggie capsules WITH my bowl meal.)
-Almost a full slice of homemade fresh mushroom, onion and pepperoni pizza
-1 Tagalong Girl Scout cookie and 1 Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie
-Stroganoff hamburger helper with spaghetti noodles and JP+
NOTE: Remember that I make this without the original noodles that come in the package. Makes it last longer (HUGELY economical) and delicious as a leftover as long as you make fresh noodles.
-2 big bites of stroganoff Hamburger Helper with spaghetti noodles (as I was putting away the leftovers...I seriously love this stuff.)
-an orange
-11 lightly salted almonds
