The Guidelines for The Baby Bowl Experiment:

1. The meal has to fit in the bowl, up to the rim. I can, however, go beyond the rim with fruits and vegetables.
2. I can eat whatever I want.
3. I can have more than one bowl of food but I have to wait 20 minutes between each bowl.
4. I have to chew the food as close to a liquid state as possible.
5. Only water.

(For additional information about these guidelines, see Days 2 and 27.)

Day 13 - March 6 - Trending and Tweaking

My journey is a graph, not an uphill battle or a downhill slide. I don't want it to be about whether or not I'm doing well or badly. I also want to enjoy the scenic route, too, with it's twists, turns, climbs and dips. I want to STRAIN toward what my ultimate destination is despite how I may stumble along the way:
-For my perception to be more realistic of what a serving should look like.
-For me not to put so much importance in food.
-To eat and shop for food more efficiently.
-To be okay with eating less.
-I want to trust in God to provide.
My desire is that at the end of the day, I'll know better what God intends for me to be.

As a graph, it's all about what I'm TRENDING, despite what the short-term numbers may say from Monday to Monday. When I start a new way of eating or...*gulp*...exercising, it's hard for me not to feel like I have to start all over again when I eat too much or skip a day. With the BBE I have to be very deliberate about taking it one day at a time, one moment at a time, tweaking as I go. If I have an egg and white rice one day I can have an egg on whole wheat toast another day. If I see I've had too many sweets one day, I can have a piece of fruit on another day. I am going to be far from perfect. My food diary is here for all to see and yes, and most times I prefer a protein and carb meal more than veggies. It's not ideal but it's where I am today. What HAS changed is my desire to change. I eat about a third less than what I used to and THAT is a celebration! We all need to know there is no shame in starting. It just tells us something important has BEGUN!

Meaningful Movement:
an hour helping a household move and a stroll with the family around our neighborhood

Food that fits in a baby bowl, Day 13:
-Lenten fast (breakfast)
-stroganoff Hamburger Helper with spaghetti noodles
-garlic caesar salad
-homemade granola apple crisp with Cool Whip

-*popcorn
-*popcorn
-*popcorn and 1 dove caramel
-*popcorn
NOTE: *Ate while I watched Alice in Wonderland with Marianne and, yes, the baby bowl came with us. I DID chew well, I DID wait 20 minutes between bowls, I DID only eat as much as the bowl would hold and I DID bring a bottled water. HOWEVER, I've concluded that I really need to watch myself with popcorn. Movie popcorn, and the whole experience of a movie, is more than my new experimenting self can handle. I have no problem stopping my candy intake but popcorn is a whole new vibe! Tricky tricky...
-corn dog with mustard and ketchup

-homemade caramel apple crisp with Cool Whip
