The Guidelines for The Baby Bowl Experiment:

1. The meal has to fit in the bowl, up to the rim. I can, however, go beyond the rim with fruits and vegetables.
2. I can eat whatever I want.
3. I can have more than one bowl of food but I have to wait 20 minutes between each bowl.
4. I have to chew the food as close to a liquid state as possible.
5. Only water.

(For additional information about these guidelines, see Days 2 and 27.)

Day 32 - March 25 - Embarrassment is NOT an Option!

My gym is a wonderful mix of cross-sizing so it's very comfortable knowing I'm not the ONLY big girl trying to uncover my God bod. Like every other gym, though, there IS a slant of teensy, tight, outfit-clad mamasitas running around, like the boot camp girls (Yes, it's as intense as it sounds so power to them! They deserve the props!). In VAST contrast, I'm the chick who's going in with mis-matched clothes, baggy t-shirts (many times from my husband's drawers), bottoms ranging from the too big to the too snug and my hair is hastily clipped in the back (if there's time, I might "fancy it up" with a braid). It's seriously sad. I will also never be that chick who puts on a full face of make-up to go sweat and it's highly unlikely my boobs will ever defy gravity in the way that I've seen at my gym (ahem!). I'm that girl who mouths the lyrics sung on my MP3 player while puffing away on the treadmill because it motivates me and in class, I'm the big girl who COULD hide in the back but has the audacity to stand just behind the instructor. I know my ample behind is in the face of many but I'm comfortable there. It's true I can fall short of others in that I don't always get the moves in Zumba, that I have a tricky knee that doesn't allow for the full range of movement and I'm working on my strength. It's all okay though as long as I can walk away knowing I did my best (or was in search of it!). If I make a fool of myself, Lord, just let me be a fool who's getting healthy! Besides, I like to imagine I'm motivating someone behind me who's thinking, "If THAT gal can do it, so can I!"

It can be a daunting thing to walk in amongst the power, sleekness and beauty of the "maintenance" people. It can make one feel as though the goals are ever so far away! As I get healthier, though, I find the perception of my status is starting to change (if only a millimeter at a time) from "Never Me" to "Someday...".

Meaningful Movement: 30 minutes of stepladder on the treadmill.

Foods that fit in a baby bowl, day 32:
